Wordpress

I’m the Administrator on my WordPress site but my name doesn’t show up as an Author option when posting. This what happened to me one day, when I have checked all my posts.

Well occasionally, WordPress gets stoned and loses the Administrator’s name in the Author dropdown menu. I really do not know why and to be honest I never tried to figure out what is the reason for this bug.

The fix for this one is actually quite simple (although it could look like your are scratching your right ear with your left hand). Here is what  you need to do to fix this bug: …

  1. Set up a new, temporary, Admin user then Log out
  2. Log back in again as the new user.
  3. Navigate to Users and select your old Admin profile.
  4. Reduce your old profile down to Subscriber and save the new settings.
  5. Update your old profile back to Admin again and save the new settings (funny right :D )
  6. Log out again – Log back in again using your old Admin username.
  7. Check that you can now see your name in the Author dropdown in Add/Edit Posts.
  8. If all is OK, delete the temporary Admin user. You no longer need it.

I had this problem also with WordPress 2.8 so if you have this problem just do as I did above. Don’t really know if this also happens in WordPress 2.9
